About Us

Here Boy Dog Training was established and is run by experienced and nationally qualified dog trainer, Kim Ball.

Here Boy Dog Training is primarily concerned with teaching responsible dog ownership and helping people to develop the skills necessary to train their canine companions.

There are very good reasons why training and playing with your dog are extremely important to your dog’s overall health and wellbeing. Providing both mental and physical enrichment is vital in ensuring that your dog will develop into a happy, confident, well trained and healthy companion animal.

We also specialise in the prevention and treatment of dog behavioural problems such as digging, barking, jumping, difficulties with toilet training, mouthing and pulling on the lead. Whatever the problem, we are here to help you teach your dog to make better choices through games and positive reinforcement. Most importantly, the learning experience must be positive and enjoyable for both handler and dog.

Meet the Team

Kim Ball

Kim comes for a long established and respected family associated with the ownership, breeding, training and exhibition of dogs.

Her preferred breed is the Australian Kelpie with which she has been highly successful in attaining a particularly high standard of achievement recognised by Dogs Victoria (Victorian Canine Association), the controlling body for all dog activities conducted in Victoria.

Kim’s mother Margaret Elliott was the Secretary of the Victorian Obedience Dog Club in Box Hill for 51 years and was the owner and part-trainer of the first Australian Kelpie to obtain the title of Obedience Champion, which involved tracking as well as obedience.

Kim followed in her mother’s footsteps, taking obedience classes at the Victorian Obedience Dog Cub Inc. (VODC) at the age of 15. Kim also trained her own Australian Kelpies to titles including Obedience Champion, Endurance Dog, Substance Detection, Trick Dog and Dances with Dogs – Canine Freestyle. Kim is still a volunteer instructor with the VODC.

Kim is a life member of the Victorian Obedience Dog Club Inc.

Kim specialises in puppy pre-school for ages 8 – 16 weeks and conducting group obedience and trick training classes from beginner to advanced levels.

Emma Ball

Emma is Kim’s daughter and showed her love and passion for dogs from a very early age.

Like her mother, she has grown up with animals, and her love of dogs began as soon as she could pick up and throw a ball. Emma has been actively involved with the training of the dogs since she was 10 years of age.

Emma has a particular interest in pre-puppy training, conducting group obedience classes from beginner to advanced levels, and animal behaviour management. Emma trained her Australian Kelpie, gaining titles in both obedience and rally obedience.
